Maidenhead Development vs Kenley

Helen Todd17 Feb - 21:04

Ninja of the day - Patrick!

Maidenhead Development team 3 – 2 Kenley

Setting up as a 3, 4,3 Maidenhead set about passing the ball around, with strict instructions not to dribble

The team welcomed Theo for his first game with the team playing at centre half,. He did exactly as requested by JC the team captain, controlling the midfield and laying off passes to both wings.Eventually and after a number of missed opportunities by the three forwards, Chris Goode managed to get the ball across the Kenley goal line. 1 - 0 at half time and no real attacking efforts from Kenley giving Stephen Haynes in goal a quiet first half, the calm before the storm.

After half time the team continued with their passing game resulting in Chris giving a great pass to Patrick Isherwood (Who had called for it) Hovering at the near post he pout the ball over the line from a foot out, a classic goal hangers move.

The third goal was the best of the lot, started by Rob passing into space out by the right midfield. The thunder of feet from Stephen Badger charging up field from left back into the rarefied atmosphere of the opposition’s half stunned the watching crowd (His mother in law and his team mates), gathered the ball and passed to George hanging high on the right, a shot across to goal was deflected onto Patrick again who was lurking by the goal line to touch the ball over from all of six inches.

They all count no matter where you score from, but the great thing is that both Patrick and Nathan were always hanging around the goal posts giving them numerous opportunities to score goals even if some of their attempts went wide.

Kenley didn’t roll over and continued to attach hard which resulted in them clawing back two goals when Maidenhead started dribbling with the ball and had their pockets picked with the defence caught out of position.

Thanks to Dave Dunford and Nathan Hurst for stepping in as worthy subs to support the team.

Player of the day or “Ninja” as we now call them, must go to Patrick for getting two lovely goals, with a very proud Dad watching on.
