Players of the Match LA & Pippa

The Ladies 5’s faced Amersham and Chalfont 7’s on what turned out to be another sunny Saturday. After a few silly mistakes left us with a loss last week, we decided to change our formation up to strengthen our centre of the pitch. Playing in a 4-4-2 set up.

The visiting team had pushback and we were straight on them, chasing down balls and doing our best to work up the pitch. We had some lovely passing up the wings with our youngest players on the pitch, Izzy and Lauren, making excellent runs up to the D. We had a couple of near shots at goal but couldn’t find the back of the net. This was also the case with our short corner which was pushed out by Kacey to LA at the top of the D. She did a lovely hit but unfortunately it went just a little wide.

We also had two defensive short corner but each one was expertly and calmly cleared by our defensive team of Kiera, Helen, Rachel, Ali and Clare.

Our half time talk with coach Paul it was decided that although this formation was helping our defensive play, we need to return to our usual set up to help get our forwards up in the D.

We went back out there ready to play. Our Mid field team of Isabel, Pippa, and Rosie, worked hard to move the ball up the pitch to Izzy, Roo and Kacey ready to receive up high.

We then won a short corner, Pippa pushed out to LA, but the umpire gave one of the oppositions defenders a green card for shouting as she ran out.

We then had another short corner which once again Pippa pushed out to LA. Her lovely strike was kicked away by the keeper but into their own players feet so we set up again for our third short corner.

This time with our set up worked, Pippa pushed to LA and her beautiful hit found the back of the net. 1-0 to Maidenhead.

We continued to work hard, moving the ball up the pitch with some lovely passing. Unfortunately Kacey went down and her healing injury became all to present again. After she had been helped off the pitch and was in the hands of our expert team first aiders, we started with the ball. We drove hard to the D and LA once again managed to find the back of the net. Bringing the final score to 2-0.

A well deserved win!

Player of the match went to LA and Pippa for their great work together in the middle of the pitch today.

We hope you feel better soon Kacey!
