The Men's 3's ended their recent mini slump in emphatic style with a quite stunning thrashing of title rivals Amersham and Chalfont.
Welcoming back youngsters Chris, Dan, Torin and Mete and having Ed available gave the team much needed pace, exuberance and experience. With Jaypee organising the teams gameplay and Ollie running the bench the whole team had a structured plan from the off and it certainly showed!
Straight from the whistle Maidenhead attacked, not giving Amersham time on the ball or allowing them out of their own half. It only took 2 minutes to score the first goal, Viren scoring his first of the day following a defence splitting pass from Ed. Maidenhead continued to attack at will with great wing play from Torin and Dan and driving runs from Mete, but couldn't find a way past the Amersham keeper who was having a busy day.
It was a surprise when Amersham managed to break into the Maidenhead half and equalise halfway through the first half but it wasn't long before the 3's took the lead, Viren scoring his second and then his third before half time with assists from Dan and Tim.
The halftime talk focused on the positives which were plentiful but wary of complacency and they certainly took that to heart as the second half was something that had to be seen to be believed and the author of this report was glad he kept notes as they went goal crazy!!
Goal number 4 came from Tim with Viren assisting, no.5 from Viren, Mete assisting who was having an eventful game in the centre of the pitch.
Clint got in on the act with goals 6 and 7, both assists coming from Ed.
Mete then got in on the act with no. 8 thanks to another fine assist from Dan and then it turned into the Torin show who finished off the match with a superb quick fire hat trick thanks to fine play and assists from Dan, Tim and Mete. Somewhere in amongst all the Maidenhead goals Amersham scored a second.
But hero of the day award goes to Rav. Keen to put his new keeper kit to the test managed to injure himself flying out of his goal to stop an Amersham player scoring. At the time the game was still in the balance so his heroics in continuing were duly noted.
5 games to go and the 3's are in 2nd place hoping to keep pace with Marlow and keep the chasing pack behind them.
