During the recent half term break, Maidenhead Hockey Club had a treat in store for some of its junior players, as it launched a series of training sessions, run by GB Olympic hockey player Phil Roper.
The hockey masterclasses were delivered as 90 minute sessions and took place on 29th and 30th October. Interested players were able to book on and to join fellow club members in an interactive session, which covered skills such as goal scoring, eliminations and defence as well as the importance of mindset.
Separate sessions were offered to under 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s.
David Joshua, Director of Hockey at Maidenhead Hockey Club, said: “We were absolutely delighted to be able to offer these sessions to our junior club members. We can’t thank Phil enough for giving up his time. To have such a renowned player, who has experience playing for his country, is so inspirational and it helps our younger players to really imagine what is possible. We’ve had some great feedback from those who attended. Everyone really enjoyed themselves, honing some existing skills while learning some new ones, along the way.”
If you missed these sessions in October and/or you’d be interested in signing up for future sessions, the Club plans to fun further holiday camps and Phil Roper masterclasses. Look out for future updates on the Maidenhead Hockey Club website.
