Maidenhead Girls U16s delivered an impressive away-win at Wallingford today, scoring 5 goals to bounce back from 2 losses to Oxford in the last couple of weeks.
An early Maids goal set the tone of attacking intent, but the home-side soon got level. The teams then traded 2 more goals with impressive hockey from both sides and the score remained level at half time.
It was the visitors who soon took the lead again with a well-taken goal from the edge of the D and then applied further pressure to rack up another score and go 2 goals clear. Maids defence and goalkeeper then absorbed a lot of pressure although Wallingford struck back to reduce the gap. But Maids U16s showed grit and resilience, pushing ahead to score their 5th goal and secure the win.
Fantastic hockey from both sides, with Maids getting their season back on track with renewed belief and confidence.
